So...this happened tonight.

So...this happened tonight. I had a good day...a bit busy, with different projects, but a very good day. A little while ago I had to drive into town to pick something up and stopped off at the grocery store for a few odds 'n ends before heading home. While in the checkout, the very nice lady there asked me if I had a husband in the military or did I see service. I absolutely, completely blanked on why she was asking me that. Sometimes I am wearing a t-shirt or something from a base I have been on..people respond to that...but I really, totally just wondered why she wanted to know that. I told her I was not married, but that I was a GS-15 with the Air Force. She smiled and helped me bag up th

Sometimes the Good Guys Win

Every so often things go right. I don’t know if it is because the stars align a certain way or enough people squeezed their eyes shut and wished with all of their might for it to be so. When it happens, after years of working for it, and wishing it were so, the feeling is almost as if suddenly gravity loosened up a bit, the sun appears brighter, breezes are sweeter and commuter traffic is not so bad after all. Briar Rose, in this story, was cast into a long, deep sleep by an angry fairy and did not waken until 100 years later by the kiss from a handsome prince. Yes, the origin of the Sleeping Beauty story. I do like to sleep so I can see the connection there. Actually, when I was born, my name was Heather for a couple of minutes but my mom wanted Briar, so that happened. My name alwa

John Cleese...as funny as ever!

Thursday night, November 2nd, I traveled into far off Tampa (just 30 miles away, but after living in the country for the past 6 years, it feels like a world away). John Cleese was appearing at the Straz Center, answering questions after a screening of the delightful film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. That movie holds up beautifully even after 40 years. YUP! Hard to believe, but that is when the movie was released, like a crazed armor wearing clown from the loony bin. If you have not seen it, do yourself a favor and find 94 minutes to enjoy some of the funniest writing, goofiest acting and really hysterical art and animation that you will find anywhere. If you have never seen this movie, y
