Is Soylent Green On the Horizon?
Our population is growing so fast, there isn't enough room on the planet anymore to farm animals for human beings to consume. Look at the travesty in Brazil. A huge portion of that beautiful rainforest is gone, burned down by farmers wanting to shove even more cows in.

Brazilian Farmers Believe They Have the Right to Burn the Amazon“The people in the big cities of Sao Paulo and Rio, they want us to live on picking Brazil nuts,” a farmer says. “That doesn’t put anyone’s kid in college” - Rolling Stone, August 29, 2019
By trying to jam more and more animals on this planet, we are increasing the massive amount of pollution they cause which exceeds that of the entire transportation industry. At a recent summit in Stockholm where scientists presented ideas on how to handle feeding the exploding population, Dr. Magnus Söderlund offered a fully thought out presentation suggesting that if people want to continue to eat meat...then turning to humans for that is a viable choice.
Swedish researcher Magnus Söderlund, stated that "...this could be a genuine solution to climate change and asserts we must "awaken the idea" of eating human flesh in the future." - Evening Standard, September 7, 2019.
The movie Soylent Green initially showed us that it is doable...but, as difficult as it is for me to think about humans eating dead animals...now an additional horror can be to eat neighbors, friends and family. Lets leave our furry companions off of the menu for now.
For those of you who saw the movie Soylent Green, you may be wondering about that infamous date! Anyone who has not seen it, take a look at the DVD cover. Is it funny that we are approaching the year that the movie selected for Soylent Green to become a reality?
More films that released in the 70's and 80's (Blade Runner for example) cite devastating global events happening now because of humans using up our limited resources - trashing the planet, killing all of the animals and trees, thereby, dispatching ourselves in the process.
Time now to start coming up with recipes for this dramatic event! Aunt Lilly pâté showcasing the Flavors of Provence, Brother Mark's delicately seasoned breaded cutlets carved from his choicest cuts, Baby Jessica's sizzling, succulent fondue chunks and so much more! OH MY..imagine the amazing options for cheese from lactating women!
We are running out of space to house all of the animals needed to feed our ever growing population, BUT, we have plenty of people, and, more are arriving every day. As with different species of animals harvested now to be eaten, the same principles can be applied to human dishes. Consideration can be given to size, weight, skin, hair or eye color. I don't know about you, but I imagine a fiery redhead may offer up a truly spicy dish, while bottle blonds could be perfect for bland dishes cooked for those with digestion issues.
Certainly, the option of using religious affiliation to determine what dish you might be best suited for could also be employed. Location in the world sounds like a wonderful marker for a fresh, new, tasty dish - Irish stew finely crafted from the winning Hurling teams garnished with sliced sliothar (the leather ball they play with) and stirred with their own hurleys. Chinese potstickers, deep fried to a crispy golden glow and made from ground dissidents, and onions. The possiblities seem limitless!
The year 2020 is coming into view, and, so are increasing problems with being able to feed everyone here on Earth. Time now to consider different ways to make sure we all have full tummy's without burning down the entire planet. Some options were presented here in this post. At the very least, it provided you with some grisly, if not entertaining, food for thought.
